LBBC Group welcomed the Chairman of the Conservative Party, Rt Hon Brandon Lewis MP, to its factory in Pudsey, West Yorkshire, earlier last week.
The visit marked part of the “Chairman on tour” programme which has seen the Minister venturing across the country to learn about companies that are innovating new products, exporting around the world and investing in skills to support economic growth.
Howard Pickard, MD of LBBC Group, hosted the visit alongside Group Chairman, Alison Keag. They provided the Minister and local MP, Stuart Andrew, with a tour of the factory, showcasing the company’s expertise in precision engineering and advanced systems technology and support.
The Minister had a chance to speak with employees from all parts of the Group – LBBC Technologies, LBBC Beechwood, LBBC Baskerville and Resomation alongside business representatives from the wider manufacturing sector in the region. The main areas of discussion covered exporting in a post-Brexit economy, nurturing skills and talent, working in partnership with Universities to innovate new products and Government support for SME manufacturing businesses.
Rt Hon Brandon Lewis MP, Chairman of the Conservative Party said:
“I was really pleased to visit LBBC Group to see the range of high-quality products they are innovating and manufacturing. LBBC Group export over 80% of their products around the world, so it was an opportunity for us to discuss the challenges and opportunities of Brexit, how we harness the skills and talent in the workforce and ensure businesses across the Northern Powerhouse continue to flourish.”
Howard Pickard, Managing Director of LBBC Group said:
“We were delighted to host the Minister for this visit and showcase the manufacturing and engineering excellence we are so proud of at LBBC Group. As a fifth generation, family run SME, we are continuously looking at ways to innovate and create advanced industrial products that will support the sectors in which we operate, and this was an opportunity for us to share our achievements and ambitions with the Chairman of the Conservative Party.”
“It was particularly good to speak to the Minister about our Knowledge Transfer Partnership with the University of Leeds and to demonstrate our dedication to skills development and R & D.
“We also discussed the unique products we have engineered that are used in the health, tech and aerospace industries and this has led to us becoming a trusted and respected supplier to many of the country’s biggest companies, including Rolls Royce and BAE Systems.”
